Why TFT LCD Displays Are Superior Than CRT Displays

In the past CRT displays had dominated the market, unlike in present day whereby the TFT LCD displays have taken over the market by storm. This has brought about low economical value for CRTs such that it is even possible to get them at no cost now. The numerous differences between these two display types have resulted in one option being dominant. The TFT LCD option has dominated due to the following differences.

CRT is the abbreviation of cathode ray tube. This monitor is quite bulky, heavy and vulnerable to physical disturbance like vibration or shock. The CRT monitors are referred to as light tubes. This is because they usually direct the electron beam on a phosphorous layer row-by-row and dot by dot.

Using a CRT monitor exposes the user to the electron beam that draws the picture. For this reason, strict, articulate and safety regulations were implemented at the place of work ton protect workers eyesight. This regulation stated the duration one is supposed to sit on a computer beyond which it becomes a health threat.

The current advancements in technology have lead to development of the LCD display. This model has the ability to either allow or block light to penetrate by changing to either opaque or transparent crystals. The pixels and sub pixels are addressed while still being as tight. It can also be referred to as liquid crystal display because it is made of a thin film transistor.

The features below make the TFT monitor to be more superior to its competitor. It helps a lot in limiting the amount of light that penetrates. Hence, it affects the presentation of color, the amount of power consumed, plus the quality and durability of the images. On the other hand, cathode ray tubes have high consumption of power and poor image quality because it is processed from a traditional technology.

Another great advantage is that these LCD monitors are compact and hence they help to minimize the space consumed in any office. The cathode ray tube monitor is normally very large and hence it consumes a lot of space. In addition, it is usually very heavy hence it is very difficult to move it from one place to another. Other modern monitors are usually very light and can be easily relocated.

These new displays use transistors, which can be easily changed to enhance performance unlike the old versions. This allows the display to adapt to the ever-increasing multimedia applications. Therefore, they tend to keep up with the market trends unlike their predecessors.

With these new PC displays, there is a lot of demand and competition in the market, which tends to make them cheaper. This in turn makes people turn to using them because they are cheap and provide quality services. That is, the prices become achievable and reasonable for even the most casual PC user.

TFT LCD displays do not emit dangerous light to the environment since it is controlled by a display layer with liquid crystal. The safety and health boards have given them a green light based on this fact. They are also more long lasting than the CRT displays due to their resistance to vibrations and pressure shock.
